About Me

I am a self-taught multi-disciplinary artist.  I was born and raised in Alberta,  and I grew up surrounded by art.   I started creating at a very young age, before I can remember.   I am a creator.  I use my intuition in my Art. I am inspired by nature, the Sun and the Moon, the Seasons.  I am inspired by love, I am inspired by pain, by the beautiful weirdness of life, by this amazing and gorgeous and dark world.  Relationships inspire me; the lust, the love, losing ourselves in one another, fear, doubt, jealousy.  Beautiful, meaningful and true friendships inspire me to create.  The way people love and hurt each other.   Transforming  the darkness into something so beautiful. Art is therapy. Art is peace and grace.   Art is my home, and where I seek solace.

I am a Journeyman Welder and worked in the field for over ten years.  I always loved working with my hands and had strong tendencies to labour intensive work.  I was eager to learn the welding trade so I could make art with metal and fire. I started my welding career in an ornamental shop in Lethbridge, Alberta making spindles and railings and then moved on to structural welding and fabricating.  I completed my Journeyman Certification in 2012.

While I love and appreciate all forms of art and mediums, I am intrinsically in love with Metal. Often, steel is described as cold, heavy, and to those who don't know; rigid. Metal is so much more than this; Metal is a beautiful and versatile material with so many different elements.  At its core, it represents strength.   Metal can be transformed in so many ways.  Not only is it structural and a building block for so many things on this planet, it is a material that can be soft,  delicate, colourful and light - while retaining its strength.   Metal is mesmerizing.  I love to bring these elements of this material to our world, and I love to experiment and grow with it;  possibilities sometimes seem endless.

My shop is located in the Beautiful and Historic Crowsnest Pass.  I find inspiration here every day.   The Crowsnest is full of breathtaking views, luscious forests which I find  peace and endless exploration.  World class fly-fishing,  deep, clean and luminous lakes. The Summertime boasts the most amazing spread of wildflowers and colours and wonderful variety of precious and beautiful Wildlife.  Jagged mountain tops as well as soft rollers and a rich, vibrant and dark history which makes it a wonderful place to call home.

All of my art works are original and one of a kind.  I draw and cut everything by hand making it impossible to duplicate.   Please feel free to contact me for any information on my work, inquiries regarding commissions, for sale pieces, shows and markets.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honourably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
